About John Grossman

John's vocation is taking a multi-disciplinary approach -- using finance, data, evidence-based practices, the law, compassion, and humility -- to drive outcomes, strive for equity, and enhance accountability in the public and social sectors. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at Third Sector and has held various roles since joining that non-profit advisory services firm in 2012, including Co-President and General Counsel. Among his accomplishments there was being a founding member of the firm's DEI working group. Prior to Third Sector, he spent over fifteen years working for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He last served as the Undersecretary for Forensic Science and Technology within the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (“EOPSS”). Before that, he worked for 12 years in the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General, leaving as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Bureau. He has served on the Massachusetts Court Management Advisory Board and as a member of the Massachusetts Governor’s Performance Advisory Council.

John is a summa cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law and holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. John has been a part-time Visiting Executive at Harvard Business School and currently sits on the boards of Concord Academy, where he leads the Community and Equity Committee, and of Welcoming America.
